Fall is here and the temperature is dropping! It is an exciting time of year as seasons are changing and we are all gearing up for colder weather. Students are continuing to work hard and do their best at school. I am so very proud of our students as we move closer to the end of our first quarter which is on October 31st.
A special thank you goes out to all of our parents and PTO members who participated in Saturday Live. It was a huge success and the PTO raised over $5000 dollars. That is almost $1000 dollars an hour! Pretty good wages if I do say so myself. It is so great to have such a supportive and creative PTO group that supports all of our Elysian students.
Parent teacher conferences were a huge success this year with almost 100% participation. Thank you so much for your continued support and connection here at Elysian School.
Remember next week we have Thursday and Friday off from school. This is a great time for teachers and staff to learn new things and collaborate with colleagues to improve the learning that happens hear at Elysian. I will be traveling to Great Falls to participate in the Montana Council for Education Leadership conference. I am excited to bring back some new ideas and energy for the rest of the year. Thanks again for all you do for our students here at Elysian.

As many of you may or may not know, I will be leaving the District later this month to join my husband on the sandy shores of Ambergris Caye Belize. I would like all of you to know that I’ve enjoyed spending time with your kids and watching them grow over the last 9 + years and also getting to know many of our Elysian families. This has been quite a journey here at Elysian. I have very fond memories and friendships that will be for a lifetime, thank you. As I embark on my next journey I hope that the experience will be as rewarding as my time here; you all can be very proud of Elysian School, it’s simply the best. Have a great rest of the year, I wish you all good health and fun times. Ms Gunsch has my contact info if anyone wants to drop me a note from time to time. =)
Please welcome Laurie Hickethier as the new District Clerk.

The PTO would like to update the families of Elysian School on the recent PTO purchases for the school, the latest activities at Elysian sponsored by the PTO and fun activities coming soon.
First, the lockers purchased with the money raised through last year’s fundraisers have come in and installed – and have been a HUGE hit with the students! After some discussion with the PTO and school administration – we have decided to purchase another group of lockers in which the 5th grade will be able to use! At the next PTO meeting, we will discuss other items that could be purchased for the school – such as technology – with the money raised through this year’s fundraisers.
Next, a BIG Thank You to all of the volunteers that helped with Saturday Live! This year Elysian School raised $5100 in profit from the fun-filled day! This is an amazing fundraiser for the school – and the coordination and setup has been the key to Elysian School raising this much money each year. Also, a thank you to everyone at the school for selling the coupon books this year! The PTO is still in the process of collecting the money and books back – but this should raise around $3000 for the school as well. Please remember that the money (or unsold coupon books) is due back to the school by Friday, October 14th. At the end of October, the prizes for the coupon books will be awarded to the students and classrooms.
Finally, please remember Friday night is Movie Night at Elysian School! The movie that will be shown is The NeverEnding Story – and snacks will be available for purchase. This is a fun time for families – and allows students to get in their PJ’s (school appropriate) and relax as a family in the gym to watch a movie! The movie night will take the place for the Fall Carnival – and the carnival will be rescheduled for the spring. Also, coming up is the Bake sale on November 8th with proceeds to benefit the 2nd Grade classroom. Please remember to bring in your quarters!
The next PTO meeting is scheduled for November 21st at 6am at the City Brew on King Avenue. Please join us for coffee or tea – we would really love to see some new faces!
Look for first quarter report cards to be sent home on Friday, November 4th. Please check with your students for their report.
Just a reminder, meal balances need to be current for report cards to be sent home.

Thought to ponder
Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do something when it has to be done whether you like it or not.
