Attention Parents of 6th Grade Students – Immunization Reminder

The State of Montana requires that all students entering the 7th grade receive a Tdap vaccine or have had one within the last 5 years. When you go for your sport physicals this spring, ask for this vaccine. Whenever you receive the vaccine, please bring in the documentation to the office. This vaccination is required before the start of our 2018-19 school year. If any questions, please email me at kristine.oos.
Thank you,

Health Update from our Nurse

Illnesses: What to know

As March arrives, we are still seeing general illnesses, colds and flu. We are very concerned about the health of our students. Please observe your child’s health needs and see a doctor when you have concerns.

Suggestions to help students, families and staff stay healthy:

Wash water bottles daily. Warm, wet environments like water bottles can be a host to bacteria and other germs.

Blow your nose after someone sneezes or coughs by you. This action may help to remove anything inhaled from the air.

Wash hands with soap and water and dry with paper towels. The friction of rubbing hands together and rubbing hands with paper towels helps remove viruses. When using hand sanitizer apply enough for the hands to be wet and continue to rub until completely dry.

Monitor for dehydration– Is your child drinking their normal amount of fluids? This is especially important if they have any of the following: Fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. If they have one of these and are not drinking please inform your doctor.

If your child is sick, please help us all by following the below health policy.

Vomiting, Fever, Diarrhea: Student must be free on any of these symptoms for at least 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to school and feel well enough to participate in class.

Antibiotics: If your child needs antibiotics for infections such as Strep Throat, Pink Eye, or other contagious illness, they will need to stay home until they have had the medicine for at least 24 hours. Along with, feeling well enough to participate in class.

We encourage students or staff not to attend school if they are ill in order to avoid exposing others to illness.

The front office staff does a great job using different strategies to help your student stay in school when they come to the office not feeling well. Our goal is to keep them in school if they are well enough to do so. If these attempts are not effective or the illness is immediate they will then call to have your student picked up as soon as possible. We appreciate work schedules are a challenge when this occurs. Please have an alternative person in mind that may be available to pick your child up if you are not able to.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact our front office staff or Kristine O. RN School Nurse (kristine.oos), cell 696-9018
